Meaning

No Parking Any Time identifies a parking prohibition without a daily parking window. Read any arrow as well as the words: the signed restriction can apply along a particular stretch of curb. The federal manual distinguishes all-time prohibitions from restrictions limited to specified days or hours.

What to do

Do not choose the signed area as a parking place. Oregon’s handbook makes clear that parking restrictions still apply while you remain inside the vehicle. Staying at the wheel is not a reason to disregard a sign prohibiting parking.

Where it is used

Federal guidance uses arrows or plaques to identify a restricted parking zone. At an end, a single arrow points toward the area covered by the regulation; within the zone, a double arrow points both ways. Check which curb segment is controlled rather than assuming the sign covers only the space beside its post.

A sign to tell apart

The crossed-out P is another no-parking message. It can have additional words limiting the restriction to pavement, a bridge or another area. The worded Any Time panel makes the time scope explicit; do not assume that a different symbol or layout creates a parking exception.

Practice with explanations

These are original learning questions based on the cited handbooks. Read each answer and its explanation below.

1. You park beside a no-parking restriction in Oregon but stay in the driver’s seat. Does remaining inside cancel the restriction?

  1. Yes, if the engine keeps running.
  2. No; the rule applies while you are in the vehicle too.
  3. Yes, until you open a door.

Answer: B. No; the rule applies while you are in the vehicle too.

Oregon applies parking and stopping rules to occupied vehicles as well as empty ones.

2. What should an Oregon driver do when an official sign prohibits parking in a curb area?

  1. Use another place where parking is permitted.
  2. Park there if no other vehicle is present.
  3. Ignore it whenever the street is quiet.

Answer: A. Use another place where parking is permitted.

The signed restriction applies to the designated place. An empty or quiet street does not remove it.
