Question 1 of 20

A power outage has left every signal dark at an intersection. What rule should you follow?

Check answer and source

Correct answer: B. Use the stopping rules for an intersection with stop signs on every approach.

An unlit signal requires the same response as a stop sign. Stop before deciding whether it is safe to enter.

Question 2 of 20

You want to turn left under a flashing yellow arrow. An oncoming car is approaching. What must you do?

Check answer and source

Correct answer: C. Let the oncoming car pass and check for pedestrians before turning.

A yellow arrow that flashes allows a turn only after you yield. It does not give you a protected turn ahead of opposing traffic.

Question 3 of 20

Your road ends at a T intersection without signs or signals. A vehicle is approaching on the through road. Who must yield?

Check answer and source

Correct answer: A. You must let the vehicle on the through road go first.

Drivers entering from the road that ends must give way to traffic on the continuing road.

Question 4 of 20

Your light turns green, but stopped traffic leaves no space for your car beyond the intersection. What should you do?

Check answer and source

Correct answer: B. Wait outside the intersection until space opens beyond it.

A green light does not justify blocking the intersection. Wait until you can get completely through.

Question 5 of 20

While moving in traffic, what is the minimum distance before a turn at which you must begin signaling?

Check answer and source

Question 6 of 20

A bicycle lane runs along the right side of the road where you plan to turn right. How should you prepare?

Check answer and source

Correct answer: A. Stay out of the bicycle lane until you cross it to turn, yielding to riders.

You may cross the bicycle lane during the turn, but you may not use it to approach the turn. Check for riders and yield before crossing their path.

Question 7 of 20

You are below the posted speed limit, but your speed is unsafe for the heavy rain. Are you obeying Oregon’s basic rule?

Check answer and source

Correct answer: B. No, because your speed must also be safe for the conditions.

The basic rule requires a cautious speed for the conditions. Driving below the limit can still be too fast.

Question 8 of 20

When driving faster than 30 mph, what following interval does Oregon recommend as the minimum before allowing extra space for hazards?

Check answer and source

Correct answer: C. Four seconds.

Above 30 mph, leave at least four seconds behind the vehicle ahead. Poor visibility or a slippery surface calls for a larger gap.

Question 9 of 20

What is the greatest distance allowed between your vehicle and the curb when parallel parking?

Check answer and source

A school bus facing you stops with its red lights flashing. Only a painted median separates your directions of travel. What should you do?

Paint alone does not separate the road for this rule. Drivers in both directions must stop and wait for the bus’s red flashing lights to end.

Question 12 of 20
