A special-restricted test has 20 questions and permits four errors. Written testing tablets, audio headsets and the recorded language options are described separately; a foreign-language dictionary needs examiner review. | Official source · PDF page 33 |

| Requirements for applicants under 18 | The learner permit requires vision and written testing and a licensed supervisor at least 21 beside the driver. To advance to a POP, hold a qualifying permit for six months and complete an approved course or the certified supervised-practice alternative. | Official source · PDF page 12 |
| Documents to bring | Bring accepted evidence of citizenship or lawful status that also establishes identity and birth date, at least two Nebraska principal-address documents, and a verifiable Social Security number or the listed exemption evidence. Use the DMV document-verification list for acceptable originals and your situation. | |
| Agency offices and appointments | Check the DMV’s current county-location directory for licensing-office hours. For Bellevue, Lincoln and Omaha, appointments for non-drive-test services are strongly recommended because walk-in help is limited; driving tests there require an appointment. | Official source · PDF page 6 |
