South Carolina teen permit rules
Minimum permit age
15
Requirements under 18
Under-18 applicants need consent from a legally qualified adult who accepts responsibility and liability for damage. The adult shows photo ID and signs at an SCDMV office, except when a driving-school representative signs and submits it. Applicants also pass the vision and knowledge exams and provide their Social Security number, identity documents and address evidence; REAL ID needs two address proofs.
Driver’s education
For a first driver’s license at age 15 or 16, complete eight classroom hours and six driving hours. This is a licensing requirement after the beginner’s permit.
